Sandsting History Group
Sandsting is a remote part of the Shetland mainland with a small history group. The group was founded in 1999 by locals who felt there was a need to collate as much history as possible to preserve past knowledge before it was lost and forgotten.
Their biggest topic is local fishing and they have collected a large amount of photos, which are scanned into the group’s computer. Their current project is to record histories stories from the elderly of the parish of Sandsting. They are also involved in the ‘Festival of the Seas’ and currently support the Skeld Waterfront Trust in opening a boat Museum.
The group do not have premises, however, members can help with any queries on the Sandsting area.
See the events calendar for information on upcoming events in the area.
