Foula Heritage was created at the turn of the new millenium. Foula is a small island, which has suffered a decline in population. The remaining locals realised there was a danger that the islands unique nature and culture would soon follow. Read more Our group meets on the first or second Tuesday of every month from September till April in the Rankin Lounge, Aith. We share an interest in Family History and undertake a specific area of study each year. Read more The Papa Stour History Group was formed in 2003 to preserve and record the wealth of history and archaeology within the island. Membership is free and open to anyone having an interest in Papa Stour. Meetings are held both in the island as well as on the mainland of Shetland. Read more Sandness is a small village on the west side of Shetland. The Sandness History Group was formed in December 2006 with the aim of recording and promoting the local history of the Sandness area. This includes photos, stories, recordings and other written materials. Read more The Trust was formed in 1999 by locals who wanted to increase tourism in the area. They started the life of the Trust by building a 53 berth marina, then they progressed on to creating a campsite, which can house 22 caravans and 20 tents. Read more Sandsting is a remote part of the Shetland mainland with a small history group.
