Overview

Lerwick Oral History Group is a relatively new group, formed in May 2007, to help collect and preserve Lerwick’s past through the recording of oral histories.  Group members are currently undertaking a series of recordings, focussing on life in Lerwick in the 1950’s.  These will, in time, be passed to the Shetland Museum and Archives for safe keeping and may form the basis of a future publication.

If you would like to get involved, we would love to hear from you.  Perhaps you or a member of your family has a story to tell?  If so, please get in touch.  We’re a very informal group who meet approximately every 6 weeks.

For more information and to find out future meeting dates, please get in touch with us: Elsa Manson on 01595 695568, Jean Taylor on 01595 693441 or June Porter on 01595 743880.
